Digital Prescriptions, Templates and Pad Printing: Setting Up Rx in Your Clinic

Anexshe Revedha·Cofounder & COO, CuraVerto·21 September 2026·6 min read

When a doctor moves from a handwritten pad to a screen, two practical questions come up on day one. How do I stop retyping the same medicines for the fifteenth viral fever of the week? And what do I do about the letterhead pads the clinic has already printed by the thousand? This post covers both: how reusable templates work, and the choice between printing onto a pre-printed pad or onto blank paper with the letterhead added digitally.

Templates: write the common case once

A prescription template is a saved starting point for a recurring situation, such as a standard course for a common complaint. Instead of building each prescription from nothing, the doctor picks a template, adjusts what is different for this patient, and signs off. The edit step matters: a template speeds up the routine, it does not decide for the doctor.

In CuraVerto, templates can belong to an individual doctor or to the whole clinic, and a doctor sees both their own and the clinic-wide ones, with the most used listed first. EMR Templates and Smart Templates are part of every CuraVerto plan, Essential at ₹9,999 per year included, so a single-doctor clinic can use them from day one. Templates can also be filtered by visit context, for example to keep paediatric courses separate from adult ones.

Two ways to write: Quick EMR and Case Sheet

The prescription screen in CuraVerto offers a Quick EMR view for fast, prescription-centred visits and a Case Sheet view for a fuller clinical write-up. Each doctor can set their own default view with a star beside the toggle, and a visit that already has a saved prescription reopens in the view it was written in. This is a workflow choice, not a plan restriction: a general practitioner who wants speed and a specialist who wants a full case sheet can share the same clinic setup.

Printing: pre-printed pad or blank paper

CuraVerto offers two print options for a prescription, and the choice is about what is already on the paper before it enters the printer.

Pre-printed padBlank paper
Paper you loadYour existing letterhead padPlain paper
What CuraVerto printsThe prescription content only, inside margins you setThe clinic letterhead, logo, address and footer, plus the content
Best whenYou already print pads and want to keep using themYou want no stationery cost, or print at more than one location
SetupSet the top and bottom blank space in millimetres so text clears your header and footerNothing to measure; the clinic identity comes from your settings

The default is pre-printed pad. A clinic sets its default paper type in settings, and the print menu in the prescription screen lets the person printing choose either option for that print, so a receptionist can override the default when a pad runs out. For the pad option, the settings let you enter the header and footer heights in millimetres so the printed content lands in the clear area of your pad. Measure your own pad with a ruler and print a test page before you use it on patients.

What about prescriptions sent on WhatsApp or saved as files?

A document that is sent or stored is different from one printed onto your own pad. A patient receiving a file on their phone has no letterhead underneath it, so CuraVerto always builds documents that are sent or saved with the clinic's identity on them, whatever your paper default says. The pad setting only affects what happens when you print onto physical paper. For what a prescription must contain before you send it, read our post on sending prescriptions on WhatsApp.

A simple way to decide

  • Keep the pad if your printed stationery is already paid for and part of your clinic's look. Set the margins once and print a test.
  • Move to blank paper if you are opening a second branch, changing your address, or tired of reprinting pads when a detail changes.
  • Do not choose on looks alone: a legible prescription with every required field matters more than the paper it is on.

Frequently asked questions

Can CuraVerto print a prescription on my existing pre-printed pad?
Yes. CuraVerto's Pre-printed Pad option prints the prescription content without its own letterhead, using header and footer margins you set in millimetres so the text sits inside the clear area of your pad. It is the default paper type.
Can I print on plain paper instead?
Yes. CuraVerto's Blank Paper option prints the clinic logo, address and footer along with the prescription. You can set either option as the clinic default and choose the other for a single print from the print menu.
Are prescription templates available on every CuraVerto plan?
EMR Templates and Smart Templates are included on every CuraVerto plan, from Essential at ₹9,999 per year excluding GST. Templates can be personal to a doctor or shared across the clinic.
Does the pad setting change what I send on WhatsApp?
No. CuraVerto builds documents that are sent or stored with the clinic's identity on them, because the recipient has no letterhead behind the file. The pad and blank paper choice only governs printing onto physical paper.
